To The Oberon Community,

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year!  I am personally ready for an amazing year at Oberon Middle School.

I am privileged and excited to have the opportunity to serve as the Interim Principal for the 2018-2019 year.  Since I served in the Assistant Principal role for the past three years, I anticipate a smooth transition as we continue our great work at Oberon.  I’m honored to continue to work with our highly qualified and dedicated staff, our wonderful students, supportive families, and amazing community.

For this school year, we will continue to focus on the concept of community as we transition to a 6-8 middle school.  We will welcome many new staff members, students, and families to Oberon. The first few weeks of school will be devoted to forging strong relationships between educator and student, educator and parents, and student to student. We will work to establish routines, expectations, and a sense of belonging in every Oberon classroom and setting. Our guiding statement: “Oberon Middle School develops a supportive, innovative community of resilient learners” will shape all that we do at Oberon as we work to strengthen citizenship and leadership in every child. Every educator at Oberon will spend time teaching, modeling, practicing and reinforcing our school-wide expectations using our PBIS focus: PRIDE and our new 7 Mindsets standards.

Our weekly schedule will include a 7 Mindset time each Tuesday from 9:03 - 9:35 am.  I encourage you to engage with your child on the learnings that will take place during this weekly time.  I will update you, via the Principal’s Weekly Message, around the themes and learnings from 7 Mindsets. We will also continue our Viking Time each Thursday from 8:56 - 9:50 am.  This time has many purposes including relationship building, student clubs, and WIN Time (What I Need).  WIN Time is a part of the Professional Learning Community cycle that helps us assure that every student is attaining proficiency of the prioritized learning standards taught in each subject area.

Our administrative team continues to include Brandon Rowland as Assistant Principal and the addition of Becky Brown as Interim Assistant Principal.  I’m so privileged to work with this administrative team. Together, we are working toward our goals of ensuring that all children are healthy, happy, and safe, so they may learn as much as they can. This has been my philosophy since I began my career in education 18 years ago and is especially important as we grow and transition Oberon into a 6-8 middle school.

It is my commitment to our families, students and school staff,  to ensure a growing and vibrant Oberon where “kids” are elevated, nurtured, and can thrive during their middle school years.

Thank you for the trust you place in each of us as we take care of all our “kids.”  We look forward to a strong partnership with you, and a successful middle school experience for your child.  Should you ever need me, please don’t hesitate to call or email. I can be reached at 303.982.2020 or via email at  GO VIKINGS!!

Best Regards,

Mr. Brian R. Conner
