Meet the Principal

Greetings Oberon Families and Community!

I'm Craig Harris and extremely excited and honored to be the principal of Oberon Middle School. 

I went to Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, IA where I pitched on varsity for four years while obtaining my Bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Secondary Education. I started my educational career in Montbello, Colorado teaching high school chemistry and physics for five years.  I completed my principal licensure program and Master’s degree through University of Colorado Denver. I was an Assistant Principal at Moore Middle School for three years prior to joining the Oberon community as an Assistant Principal in 2023. I'm honored to be able to lead this outstanding community now as Principal. 

In addition to my role in education, I am also a Major in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, where I continue to serve as an artillery officer. I have a passion for baseball, and anything related to Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Marvel. I enjoy spending time with my wife (Erin) and dog (Darth) outside of school hours. We are all Colorado natives and love to cheer on our Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos. 

I believe learning is a never-ending process. I am the product of phenomenal educators, leaders, and mentors from all backgrounds. I intend to carry on their legacy and pay forward the effort, faith, and time they dedicated to me through my educational journey. I intend to continue to use my leadership experiences in education and the military to contribute to strengthening the current educational community and culture that encourages our Vikings to be supportive, innovative, resilient learners who are prepared to succeed in a continuously changing world.

My vision is that we as a community, empower our students to make the transition to high school and beyond as well-rounded individuals, who are ready to navigate their futures with curiosity, compassion, and purpose.  I look forward to getting to know you and thank you for supporting our Oberon students in their journey. 

I am excited to support staff, students, and our community in helping to make Oberon a wonderful experience for all. I grew up around the world and have a passion for students who are new to their school. This will be my 14th year in education. I started by teaching English in China at a middle school. From there, I found out my passion for supporting students and became a High School Counselor in Minnesota, After that, I then became an Assistant Principal and have been in administration in both Minnesota and Colorado for the last 8 years.

My wife and I have two beautiful kids who attend school in Jeffco. We also have a four-year-old Bernedoodle named Bernie. Our family enjoys hiking, biking, travelling, arts and crafts, cooking and spending time with our family.
