Dress Code
Oberon Dress Code Policy
- Students attend school to learn. Therefore, students are to dress in a manner that reflects a respectful attitude toward learning for a student professional environment. Dress guidelines apply equally to all students.
- The student dress code supports our goal of inspiring students to learn while leaving primary decisions around student clothing and style to students and their parent(s)/guardian(s). We expect that parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring student compliance with the school’s dress code, and students are responsible for knowing the student dress code and complying during school hours and school activities. Oberon’s student dress code guidelines support equitable educational access and are written in a manner that does not reinforce stereotypes.
- Students often use clothing to express many facets of their identity. Clothing choices are informed by ethnicity, culture, religious beliefs, and other aspects of identity, including gender identity. All these areas are considered and respected.
- Students are to wear clothing that fits properly, is appropriate, safe, and maintains a style of modesty. Students shall be dressed and groomed in a manner that will not be a health or safety hazard to themselves or others. Specific guidelines are open to periodical revisions as needed. These guidelines were established in the spring of 2022 in combination with input from all stakeholder groups (families, school staff, parents, and students).
- All stakeholders are asked to support the dress code to uphold the educational environment and to ensure effective and equitable compliance with the dress code. School staff shall respectfully enforce the dress guidelines consistently and in a manner that does not reinforce or increase marginalization or oppression of any group based on race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, immigration status, or any other basis prohibited by law, that adversely affects the student.
- Students who do not comply with the standard will respectfully be asked to change if they have optional clothing or have family bring in appropriate clothing for the remainder of the day. Students will not be permitted to return to class until they have changed.

Dress Code Guidance in Jeffco
Responsibility for student dress and appearance generally rests with individual students and their families. Students may wish to express themselves by the manner of their dress and appearance; however, students shall not wear clothing or affect an appearance at school or school-sanctioned activities or events that is disruptive to the educational environment. Jeffco Public Schools standards on student attire are intended to help students focus on schoolwork, reduce discipline problems, and improve school order and safety.
Disciplinary action for violating the student dress code shall include notifying the student of the violation and requiring that the dress or appearance be corrected before the student reenters the classroom, school environment, or school-sanctioned activity or event. At the discretion of the building-level administrator, a family conference may be held. More serious consequences may result from repeated or serious violations.
